Durham Cathedral Sanctuary Knocker – Box Frame – Ceramic Tile – Gift
Durham Cathedral's Sanctuary Ring is associated with the medieval right of sanctuary. The original bronze ring dates from the twelfth century; the familiar face on the cathedral's north door is a replica that preserves its remarkable design. This close-up photograph captures the face, curling details and weathered surface of the cathedral's famous door ring.
One 11 × 11 inch (28.4 × 28.4 cm) solid white wood box frame, 20 mm wide and 33 mm deep, supplied with a white mount and glass. The frame can be wall mounted or displayed freestanding using the strut on the back.
The 8 × 8 inch ceramic tile in the centre appears to float above the background and is mounted 10 mm from the white backing board.
The item will arrive securely packaged for safe delivery.
